Medical Note for NAIT Students
NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) serves over 17,000 students across its Main Campus, Souch Campus, Patricia Campus, and Spruce Grove Campus in Edmonton. With programs in Applied Sciences, Engineering Technologies, Skilled Trades, and Health & Life Sciences, NAIT students frequently need documentation for missed practical assessments, shop time, and apprenticeship absences — not just written exams. The 20% assessment weight threshold means most major exams and practical tests qualify for formal deferral. Accepted for exam deferrals, assignment extensions, and academic accommodations. CPSA-registered physician. Same-day delivery. $49 flat fee.
NAIT Exam Deferral Policy
Students may request a deferred exam for assessments weighting 20% or higher through the Office of the Registrar. The request must be supported by documentation of extenuating circumstances. Forms are available from the Registrar's office.
Deadline: Contact the Office of the Registrar as soon as possible. Most programs expect notification within 2-3 business days of the missed assessment.
Documentation: NAIT requires documentation of extenuating circumstances for exam deferrals. For illness-based deferrals, a physician's letter confirming the dates and nature of the illness is the standard documentation. Apprenticeship students may have additional employer documentation requirements.
