Medical Note for University of Alberta Students
The University of Alberta is one of Canada's top research universities with over 40,000 students across North Campus, South Campus, Campus Saint-Jean, and Augustana. During exam season, the University Health Centre on campus is often fully booked days in advance. Students in competitive programs like Engineering, Business, and Medicine face particular pressure to document absences properly — even though U of A policy says a note 'cannot be required,' faculty offices strongly recommend providing one. Accepted for exam deferrals, assignment extensions, and academic accommodations. CPSA-registered physician. Same-day delivery. $49 flat fee.
U of A Exam Deferral Policy
Students must contact their faculty office by phone or email as soon as possible to advise of their absence. The faculty office will guide you through the deferral process, which varies by faculty. Visit your faculty office to discuss options and submit any documentation.
Deadline: Contact your faculty office as soon as you are able. Most faculties expect notification within 2 business days of the missed exam. The sooner you notify, the stronger your case.
Documentation: The University of Alberta's official policy states that a medical note cannot be required. However, having a physician's letter significantly strengthens your deferral application. Students may also provide a statutory declaration. In the absence of a medical note, instructors may ask you to visit your faculty office to provide a personal statement.
