U of C Exam Deferral Policy

For a Registrar-scheduled final exam, use the Deferred Examination Request in Student Centre under Exams and Grades. Select the affected exam and submit the application with any available supporting documentation; submit a separate application for each exam you seek to defer.

Deadline: Applications must be submitted on the day of the scheduled final exam or up to two business days after the exam date. Late applications are not accepted.

Documentation: Supporting documentation is required for debilitating illness, unforeseen crisis or serious personal hardship, and some other listed grounds. The application includes a Student Declaration of Absence option; supporting documents must clearly support the request and do not guarantee approval.
