Remote Work Accommodation Letter
A remote work accommodation letter documents your medical need to work from home, either full-time or on a hybrid schedule. Under Alberta law, employers must accommodate this request unless they can demonstrate undue hardship. Our letters clearly outline your functional limitations and why remote work is a medically necessary accommodation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can my employer deny a remote work accommodation request?
Only if they can demonstrate undue hardship — which is a very high bar. They must prove the accommodation would cause significant financial cost, safety risk, or operational impossibility. Simply preferring in-office work or 'company culture' is not undue hardship.
Do I need a specific diagnosis to get a remote work accommodation letter?
No. Our physicians assess your functional limitations and how they relate to your work environment. The letter documents that you have a medical condition requiring remote work — without disclosing your specific diagnosis to your employer.
How long is a remote work accommodation letter valid?
For permanent conditions, the letter is valid indefinitely. For temporary conditions, the letter specifies a duration. Your employer cannot arbitrarily require annual renewals for permanent conditions.
What if my job requires some in-person tasks?
The letter can recommend a hybrid arrangement or specify which tasks can be done remotely. Accommodation doesn't mean 100% remote if that's not feasible — it means finding the best arrangement that addresses your medical needs while allowing essential duties to be performed.
