A document is only one part of an absence process. Notify your employer, instructor, or other recipient as soon as reasonable, follow its stated deadline, and ask whether a particular form or supporting evidence is required. Do not wait for a physician document before reporting an absence.

Eligible Alberta employees with at least 90 days of employment can take up to five unpaid, job-protected personal and family responsibility leave days each calendar year. Alberta legislation does not require a medical certificate for that leave, while workplace policies and other leave categories can differ. Check the current Alberta guidance and your own workplace terms for the process that applies.
Post-secondary institutions, faculties, and instructors set their own deadlines, forms, evidence requirements, and academic outcomes. For a missed exam or assignment, check the school process promptly. If a physician issues documentation, it may support a request, but it does not guarantee a deferral, extension, or other academic decision.
MedLetter does not provide documentation for chronic conditions, mental-health leave, disability, workplace injury claims, surgical recovery, or extended absences. Those situations may require ongoing clinical care, employer-specific forms, an insurer process, WCB forms, or a different treating professional.
A clinic document fee is only one factor. Consider travel, parking or transit, the effort of attending while ill, appointment availability, and whether an in-person visit is appropriate. MedLetter charges a $49 flat fee for a secure request and independent physician review; documentation is not automatic.
